Getting Started

New here? These cover the basics.

What is Gameho?

Gameho is an on-demand multiplayer game server host. You spin up a server when you want to play, and it shuts down when empty so you only pay for active time.

What games and regions are supported?

Supported games currently include Valheim (including BepInEx), Factorio, Palworld, Satisfactory, Project Zomboid, Enshrouded, and Windrose.

Regions include US East, US West, and EU (Germany). The “Create Server” screen is the source of truth if the list changes.

Do I need an account to use a server?

For full control, you’ll sign in with Google. If a friend shares a server link with you, you can join that server as a guest using the password.

How do I create my first server?

Go to “Create Server,” choose a game, region, and server size (Chill/Perf/Ultra/Max). Set a name and password. Creating the server is free, then press Start when you’re ready to play.

How long does it take to start, and what do the statuses mean?

Startup is typically about 3 minutes. You’ll see statuses like initializing, booted, started, and loading. If it’s slow or stuck, check Discord for outage notices.

Pricing & Billing

Simple, pay-as-you-play pricing.

How does pricing and billing work?

You pay using credits (top-ups are processed via Stripe). Billing is in hourly blocks while the server is running. There’s no monthly subscription, and you’re not charged while the server is stopped. Credits don’t expire.

What happens if I stop the server while it’s still starting?

Stopping mid-startup interrupts the attempt and charges a small $0.02 fee. If startup is taking long, it’s usually better to keep waiting — an attempt that can’t finish times out on its own after about 12 minutes, and letting it time out avoids the charge.

Do my credits expire?

No. Credits stay on your account indefinitely.

Can friends help pay for my server?

Yes. Guests with access to the server page can use the Top Up flow to buy credits via Stripe, applied to the owner’s account.

What are coupons or free credits, and how do I redeem them?

Coupons are promo codes that add credits. You can redeem them on the Credits page, and your balance should update immediately.

Servers & Access

Joining, sharing, and server controls.

How do I connect to the server in-game?

Use the connect info shown on your server page (DNS name and/or IP, plus port if needed). DNS is convenient, but IP can be a reliable fallback while DNS propagates.

How do I invite friends to join?

Use the “Share Access” button on the server page. It copies a link and password for your friends. Guests can view join details and may be able to start or stop the server on their own.

Does crossplay work? Can console or Game Pass players join?

It depends on the game. Valheim, Palworld, and Project Zomboid each have a crossplay toggle in the server settings — “Crossplay with XBox Gamepass” for Valheim, “Crossplay / public lobby” for Palworld, and “Crossplay (steam=0)” for Project Zomboid. All three are off by default, so you need to switch the toggle on yourself. Changes apply after a restart.

Xbox and PS5 players must open Palworld’s Community server list and search for the server name; they cannot use the IP or DNS connect fields shown on the server page.

What does the server password do?

The password grants access to join the server and view the server panel page. Share it only with people you trust.

Does the server stop automatically when nobody is playing?

Yes. When the server becomes empty, it stops automatically so you stop paying. Right after startup there’s a longer grace period (about 45 minutes) so it won’t shut down while your friends are still installing or joining; after that, an empty server stops in roughly 10 minutes. Your world data stays saved in cloud storage.

What’s the difference between Stop and Suspend/Activate?

Stop shuts the server down. Suspend/Activate is a pause/unpause flow that helps apply file changes (mods or configs) without a full shutdown.

Can I change region, server size, or password after creation?

Yes. You can edit server settings later. Most changes apply after a restart, and some games may restrict certain sizes.

Two things are fixed at creation time: the game itself, and Valheim’s BepInEx mod support. For a different game, create a second server — you only pay for the ones you actually run.

Can I run multiple servers or duplicate a world?

Yes. You can create multiple servers/worlds and only pay for the ones you run. You can also duplicate a server from your list to create a copy.

Can I delete a server, and what happens to my data?

Deleting a server archives it so it won’t show as active. If you want to permanently remove any trace of data, please contact support.

Mods & Files

World saves, imports, and mod workflows.

Are mods supported? How do I add them?

Yes. Enable mod support during server creation where available (for Valheim, tick “bepinex (mods/experimental)”). Start your server, click Suspend, open the File Browser tab, upload your mods, then press Activate to reload.

The BepInEx option can only be set while creating the server — it isn’t editable afterwards, so if you think you might want Valheim mods later, tick it up front.

How do I back up or download my save/world files?

Stop the server first, then use the download option to export zipped server data. Keep the archive as an offline backup.

Can my game be restored if something goes wrong?

Yes. Gameho keeps a previous backup of your game data. Contact us on Discord or by email within 24 hours, and we can restore your game to its previous state.

Can I import an existing singleplayer or dedicated save?

Yes. Start your server, click Suspend, open the File Browser tab, upload your save files (plus mods/configs if needed), then press Activate.

Playing Palworld? Open the Save Converter tab on the server page to prepare your local co-op world and character for the dedicated server automatically.

How do I switch to a different save file later?

Suspend the server, replace the world/game files in the File Browser, then Activate to load the new save.

Troubleshooting

Quick checks before you reach out.

I can’t connect. What should I try first?

Try the IP instead of DNS, and verify the port shown on your server page. If it’s a fresh start, wait a few minutes for DNS to propagate.

How do I know which port to use (especially for crossplay)?

Use the exact connect details shown on the server page unless the game requires a different join method. In Palworld, Xbox and PS5 players join from the Community server list and do not enter an IP or port.

What if something looks broken or I need a refund?

If you’re still stuck after checking IP/DNS and port, reach out on Discord or email support. Refund requests are handled by support, and credits/top-ups are managed through the Credits page.

Policies & Sharing

Data retention, safety, and limits.

Do my world files ever expire or get deleted?

Currently there’s no expiration date for world files. If that ever changes, it will be announced in Discord and you’ll always have a way to export your data.

What’s the safest way to share access?

If you only want people to join your game, share just the in-game join details (DNS/IP + port). Share the server page link and password only with trusted friends — it can grant extra control, like starting or stopping the server. The “Share Access” button on the server page copies the full link + password message for you.

Are there player-slot limits or per-slot pricing?

There’s no per-slot pricing. Billing is based on uptime, and practical player limits depend on the game and your chosen server size.
